Since 1988 the concept of 'Health Promotion', as distinct from 'Health
Education', has been growing. The latter deals with the maintenance
of the machinery of the body. Health Promotion, on the other hand,
while including the concept of Health Education, is much more concerned
with placing health in a wider context that will encourage communities
and individuals to develop health strategies relevant to their needs
in a local, national and global way. Main subjects of the course are:
Social Psychology of Health and Illness, Social Policy and Administration,
Action Models of Health Promotion, Issues for Action in the Sociology
of Health, Research Methods, Interpersonal Issues of Health Promotion,
Third World Health Promotion. |
